Scholarship Guidlines

PURPOSE

The purpose of the FCEA Scholarship program is to promote continuing education and volunteer service to FCEA and its members. Applicants must show a serious commitment to the study of Horsemanship, Dressage and/or Eventing as well as a willingness to share and enrich the FCEA membership with the improved understanding and skills gained from the experience. This scholarship represents an investment by FCEA.

REQUIREMENTS for ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicants must be an FCEA member in good standing for a minimum of 1 year at the time of the application.

  • An individual may apply for a scholarship no more often than once every 2 years.

  • Applicants must have met volunteer requirements at club functions and events for the previous year of membership.

  • Scholarship is for a non-FCEA clinic and may be used only for education of the rider, not for the training or maintenance of the horse.

  • Funds must be used for specifically stated objective (i.e. clinic, riding camp, seminar, etc.).

  • Willingness to share benefits of experience with FCEA membership.

 

APPLICATION      

  • Application can be downloaded from the FCEA website and submitted to the Education chairperson.

  • List of FCEA volunteer service. (Can be obtained from the Volunteer Chair.)

  • Brief description of the applicant’s riding background, level at which they are currently riding, and short term goals.

  • Copy of Clinic entry form and flyer.  (Must show cost of clinic)

  • Potential benefits of attending this event and how it will help the applicant reach their goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES OF RECIPIENT

Recipients must write an article for the newsletter & web site describing the activity for which the scholarship was utilized. Articles must be submitted within 30 days of using the funds.

SCHOLARSHIP/EDUCATION COMMITTEE

  • Will meet as necessary to review applications and award scholarships. Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year.

  • Scholarships will be approved before the event and recipient will be notified in writing.  Reimbursement will occur after article for the newsletter has been received.

  • Scholarship will be awarded for up to 50% of the cost of clinic, but not to exceed $250. (not including trailering, stabling or any other additional fees)
